INSIDE HUNT: How HUNT Shows Up for Our Communities

At HUNT, the communities we serve are the places where we live, work, raise our families, volunteer, and spend time with our neighbors.

That’s why giving back has been part of HUNT for decades, that commitment continues through volunteer efforts, fundraising, sponsorships, food drives, charitable contributions, and—most importantly—our people giving their time.

Showing Up Across HUNT

Over the past year, HUNT has placed an increased focus on bringing our offices together through community involvement. A committee of approximately 10 employees representing our offices helps coordinate efforts, but the participation goes far beyond the committee. Employees throughout HUNT continue to step up to donate their time, money, and talents.

For nearly 30 years, HUNT has partnered with the United Way. This year’s efforts have included a Day of Action with United Way of Broome County and the United Way of the Southern Tier, a company-wide silent auction, payroll contributions, and our first-ever company-wide chili cook-off. We have also supported community events throughout the regions we serve, while individual offices have found their own ways to make a local difference.

Our Rochester office, for example, has organized several food drives benefiting a local food pantry. These efforts may look different from office to office, but they all share the same goal: supporting the people and organizations that help our communities thrive.

Giving Back Where It Matters Most

For HUNT employees, community involvement is often personal.

Siara Tompkins, Municipal Engineer at HUNT, volunteers with United Way because she believes strongly in the organization’s mission and the difference it makes locally. One program that is especially meaningful to her is United Way’s work distributing books through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

“It's so fulfilling to see my efforts go directly to helping the area,” Siara says.

That local connection is important. Through United Way’s regional organizations, contributions and volunteer efforts can directly support the communities where HUNT employees live and work.

A Day of Action in Binghamton

In May, seven employees from HUNT’s Binghamton office participated in the 2026 United Way Day of Action at the Lee Barta Community Center.

Christine Bracken, David Brosius, James Cummings, Karen McIntee, Jake Richtsmeier, Dave West, and Brian Zick spent the day helping clean up Liberty Street and several surrounding neighborhoods. Their work helped improve the appearance of the area while contributing to a greater sense of community pride.

The team also had the opportunity to learn more about the Lee Barta Community Center and the resources it provides for local residents, including cooking classes, a food pantry, social events, and a bicycle giveaway program with an on-site repair shop.

The experience was a reminder that sometimes making a difference doesn't require a major project or a large commitment. It can be as simple as showing up, lending a hand, and learning more about the people and organizations working every day to strengthen a neighborhood.

A Tradition That Continues

While HUNT’s community involvement has evolved over the years, the commitment is nothing new.

Today, that tradition is becoming even more connected across HUNT.

Whether it’s an employee volunteering at a Day of Action, a group collecting food for a local pantry, a payroll contribution supporting a nonprofit, a company fundraiser, or HUNT sponsoring a community event, every effort matters.

At HUNT, the communities we serve are more than the places where we design buildings, improve roads, plan infrastructure, or provide engineering and surveying services, we’re proud to give back to our neighbors.
