HUNT Water Resources, Environmental Services, & Geomatics

Over the past few months, HUNT has diversified our multi-disciplinary portfolio of full-service consulting and design capabilities to provide our clients with a broader range of services to support our mission and vision for the communities in which we serve. With nearly 200 employees and offices conveniently located in Albany, Binghamton, Horseheads, Rochester, and Towanda, HUNT presents an expansive regional footprint and a significantly improved strategic focus to make us a more resourceful partner to you. While HUNT continues to strengthen its reputation as a premier provider of professional community-focused services within the engineering and architecture disciplines, we now also provide an expanded breadth of specialized water resource engineering services, environmental services, and geomatics.

Water Resources

HUNT offers specialized water resource engineering services in the form of dam safety, floodplain management & mitigation, stream restoration, stabilization, and modeling, watershed studies, and stormwater management.

  • Dam Safety Services include improvements, assessments, inspections, hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling, emergency action plans, and inundation mapping.

  • Floodplain Management Services include H&H modeling of streams, culverts, closed drainage systems, stormwater management practices, flood levees, closure structures, and interior/pumping storm drainage systems.

  • Geomorphic Services include a range of stream restoration and stabilization services, featuring natural stream design methods, often incorporating the use of natural planks and bioengineering materials to stabilize stream banks and floodplains.

  • Stormwater Management Services include green infrastructure design, post-construction stormwater management design, erosion & sediment control plan preparation, SWPPP development, and post-construction monitoring and inspection.

Environmental Services

Members of the HUNT staff have been trained and certified in multiple disciplines, which allows us to provide specialized technical support in the areas of traffic analysis, wetland delineation, endangered/threatened species studies, surface water, and groundwater studies, hazardous waste, permitting, air and noise analysis, and stormwater management.

  • Field Investigation Services may include material sampling and testing for mold, asbestos, and lead, air quality, groundwater analysis, and avian waste assessment and remediation.

  • Environmental Site Assessment Services include environmental impact statements, reports, permitting, hazardous material remediation design; spill prevention and control plans, design for the management of wastewater discharge, wetlands delineation and mapping, and construction inspection/monitoring in conformance with applicable state and federal regulations.

  • Specialized Services include Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data management, asbestos inspection, design, and management planning, and EPA-certified lead-based paint inspection.

Geomatics

HUNT provides a complete range of services encompassing the fields of surveying, mapping, remote sensing (LiDAR), photogrammetry, hydrography, global positioning systems (GPS), and geographic information systems (GIS). Each field survey team is equipped with the appropriate technical instrumentation and fully staffed with two or three personnel, as required, to address the scope of work and satisfy field safety requirements for each project.

  • Survey Services include UAV (Drone) geodetic and primary control surveys, photogrammetric control surveys, Right-of-Way (ROW) surveying and mapping, global positioning system (GPS) surveys, riverbed surveys, digital terrain model surveys, geographic information systems (GIS), and other survey services necessary to design construction projects. Survey services also include subdivision mapping, boundary retracement surveys, ROW acquisition mapping, and abstract request maps (ARM).

  • Hydrographic/Hydraulic Services encompass projects ranging from small streams and tributaries to large rivers, the collection of critical terrain data required to conduct hydraulic analyses for minor structure replacements, and major watershed studies associated with flood protection projects.

  • Bathymetric/Fathometric Services involve data collection of water bodies to illustrate the depth and shape of underwater terrain.

  • High-Definition LIDAR Scanning capabilities enable HUNT to offer Terrestrial 3D Scanning to collect high-density spatial imaging with enormous amounts of coordinate-based locations quickly and accurately. This technology and data capture methodology greatly enhance our ability to survey and map high-detail projects, features, and as-built/record plan-based assignments with a higher safety profile.
