Brockport Landfill Solar Array

Client

Village of Brockport

HUNT worked with GreenSpark Solar to construct a solar array located on a decommissioned landfill in the Town of Sweden. The landfill is owned by the Village of Brockport, NY. This project required additional effort to maintain compliance with a NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) Landfill Closure Plan.

Key to this project was the use of a ballasted racking system that does not penetrate the landfill cap or disturb the subsurface.
The 645.84kW solar array for the Village offsets the electricity needs of multiple buildings. The project is owned by Kendall Sustainable Infrastructure, with the Village of Brockport utilizing a solar Power Purchase Agreement to save the municipality more than $300,000 over the 25-year term.
