Watkins Glen Central School District

Client

Watkins Glen Central School District

HUNT has worked with the district on several projects, including connecting the high school and elementary school with a shared, six-station gymnasium with elevated running track and fitness center. The addition also included 11 elementary classrooms and 15 secondary classrooms

Renovations included converting the elementary gym into a cafeteria, the secondary gym into a swimming pool and the district central receiving area into the secondary cafeteria.

Site work included redesigning roads/walks/parking to resolve circulation conflicts and provide separate high school and elementary access points.
Following a consolidation study, the project combined the district’s facilities into a single campus setting and included design of a state-of-the-art STEM classroom space that allows for maximum flexibility of learning and teaching areas.

HUNT also designed athletic field improvements that included the addition of a new eight-lane, all-weather track with track events, new main baseball and softball fields with dugouts, new main soccer and football fields, a practice soccer field, and five tennis courts.

The district transportation facility includes three repair/inspection bays, a wash bay and parts and tire storage. It also houses the transportation supervisor’s offices, a driver’s room and washrooms, and is located in close proximity to the shared fueling facility.
