The project focus was addressing areas of the school that were underutilized, out of date, and no longer serving the districts needs properly. The 1960’s addition that housed the existing kitchen, cafeteria, band, and chorus rooms had never been updated and was showing significant signs of age, the band and chorus rooms were typical classrooms that did not function well for their use. The entire addition was renovated, which entailed a phased construction plan relocating each space. The work expanded the cafeteria footprint and provided students an evoking space. The modern kitchen and serving lines give the district a new level of efficiency. In this area of the building a new art room was created with ample storage to meet the curriculum needs.

On the other side of the school, a gymatorium type space which was being used as storage and a makeshift library saw an extreme renovation. The new space houses a purpose-built library space with lots of natural light and a classroom mezzanine. A program specific band and chorus room were also created, separated by a significant sound barrier. The spaces work flawlessly and give students exciting new environments that have and hopefully continue to draw them into these programs. This project also included updates to the track and field, addressing some safety concerns and providing the district a much needed newly surfaced track. Minor work around the building like corridor flooring replacement and window replacement of the main 1930s school also was done. The work of this referendum took approximately two years and posed a lot of logistical challenges.
