Renewable Energy Engineer

About the Role

This new team member will join our Renewables Team within the Site group in our Rochester, NY office. This team member will work on designing and developing site plans for a variety of impactful projects with a primary focus on solar energy systems. The role offers the opportunity to engage in all phases of project development, from feasibility studies and concept designs to permitting, utility coordination, bidding, and construction administration. Opportunities for growth within our company are available based on performance, communication skills and teamwork capabilities. Responsibilities include: Develop electrical plans, site layouts, and utility coordination for solar energy projects.

Perform site feasibility studies, including topographical assessments and environmental considerations.

Prepare mechanical & electrical plans under the supervision of experienced professionals.

Assist with permitting processes and coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and contractors throughout project life cycles.

Participate in construction administration, including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and conducting site visits.

Stay updated on industry trends, codes, and regulations related to renewable energy and site civil engineering.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Degree

  • Renewable Energy Engineering Certification Preferred

  • A minimum of 5-9 years of experience in  design engineering, with a focus on renewable energy or solar projects preferred.

  • PE preferred (will entertain a candidate that possesses an EIT with intention to obtain a PE)

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office Suite, and stormwater modeling software.

  • Strong understanding of permitting requirements and utility coordination.

  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Team-oriented "can do" attitude
