HOMER HIGH SCHOOL

The Homer Central School District engaged HUNT to improve their safety and security and take advantage of modern energy efficiencies, while at the same time preserving the historic character of its buildings so as to complement their setting in the community.

The opening of the auditorium, art rooms, music rooms, and new gymnasium facilities rounded out capital projects beginning there in 2011. Prior projects included health and safety upgrades and improved security for five buildings: the junior/senior high school, intermediate school, two elementary schools, and the bus garage.

In addition, HUNT added three new and three renovated classrooms, a new elementary school cafeteria and kitchen, an enlarged cafeteria in the high school, restroom renovations, and high-efficiency windows and heating systems to reduce energy costs.

New lighting and bright finishes in the classrooms and common areas create a lively and cheerful atmosphere while enhancing accessibility and improving air quality through efficient heating and ventilation.

The high school cafeteria addition was designed and oriented to take advantage of the school’s natural setting by adding several window facades that provide vistas of surrounding fields and hills.
