Broadband GIS Specialist

About the Role
As a Broadband GIS Specialist, you will collaborate with other members of the Broadband team on the scope and schedule of projects. You will play a crucial role in enhancing our broadband infrastructure by leveraging Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to support the planning, deployment, and optimization of broadband networks. Your expertise in GIS will help us analyze spatial data, manage network assets, and ensure that our broadband services are efficiently mapped and delivered to underserved and strategic locations.
Key Responsibilities
· GIS Analysis and Mapping: Utilize GIS tools to analyze spatial data related to broadband infrastructure. Create detailed maps and spatial analyses to support network planning and deployment.
· Data Management: Maintain and update GIS databases with accurate information about network assets, including fiber routes, network nodes, and service areas.
· Network Planning: Collaborate with engineering and planning teams to develop broadband network designs and optimization strategies based on GIS data.
· Field Data Collection: Oversee and coordinate field data collection efforts, ensuring that collected data is accurately reflected in GIS systems.
· Reporting and Visualization: Develop and present GIS reports, maps, and visualizations to stakeholders, including management, engineers, and external partners.
· System Integration: Integrate GIS data with other network management and planning systems to enhance overall operational efficiency.
· Quality Assurance: Ensure the accuracy and quality of GIS data through regular audits and validation processes.
· Technical Support: Provide technical support and training for GIS software and tools used in broadband network planning and management.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Urban Planning, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with GIS technology, preferably in a broadband or telecommunications environment.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., Esri ArcGIS, QGIS), spatial analysis, and data management. Experience with network management tools is a plus.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex spatial data and generate actionable insights.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data management and analysis.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively, meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications: GIS certification (e.g., GISP) or related professional certifications.
Experience: with broadband network design and deployment, or familiarity with fiber optic networks and technologies.
Software Knowledge: Familiarity with network planning tools and project management software.
