208 MILL STREET

This 19th century manufacturing facility is located in the High Falls Preservation District in Rochester.  Abandoned for many years, the project restored the structure for occupancy.

The project adapted the building for a mixed use as mercantile or office use on the first floor and basement and an unusual mixture of apartments and offices on the top three floors.

Code research enabled the building to be developed with a single interior exit stair thereby greatly increasing the financial viability of the project.
The work includes extensive masonry restoration, restoration of existing windows and exterior doors as well as new doors fabricated to match the historic original elements.  The interior was completely rebuilt with an elevator, stairs and new mechanical and electrical systems.

The project was privately funded with grants from NYSERDA, RG&E, Restore New York and a NY technology grant and Federal and NY State Historic Tax credits.
