CORNING, NY, The Corning-Painted Post School District celebreated the beginning of their district-wide facilities improvement project with a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, June 22 at 12:00 noon at the field behind the former Kent-Phillips School.
 
Board of Education members, district officials, students and guests gathered at the first site of excavation for a brief ceremony and remarks by key officials.

The $97.47 million facilities improvement project will consolidate the two high schools into a single renovated facility, at the current Corning-Painted Post East High School site.

In addition, the two middle schools will be consolidated into a renovated middle school facility at the Corning-Painted Post West High School site.

Superintendent Mike Ginalski commented on the occasion, noting after a lot planning and organization, he is pleased to get the shovels in the ground.

“Construction is underway, and that is cause for celebration,” Ginalski said. “We felt it was approproate to take a moment to celebrate, and to thank our Board, consultants and contractors, and most of all, the people in our District who made this possible.”
