The Interstate Highway System, a product of Eisenhower-era defense thinking, the great toll roads such as the NYS Thruway, and the improved design of our state highways and bridges have had an almost incalculable impact on commerce, from manufacturing to tourism.

The ease and safety of our highways have widened our horizons and connected us to each other across greater and greater physical distances.
