• What consulting services do you offer?

  We are a full-service firm, which means you can retain us on many levels. Chronologically, we offer services through the life of a project, starting with planning, and continuing through design, construction, and occupancy.

• What are the stages, or phases of a typical project?

  1. Conceptual design.
  During this phase, the high-level design concept is created, which will implement the complex electronics requirements. This design concept may be expressed as functional block diagrams, design and architecture descriptions, and sketches.

  2. Schematic design
  Schematic design is the development of graphic and written conceptual design solutions to the program for the owner/client’s approval.

  3. Design development
  In design development, a project’s schematic design is refined, including designing details and selecting materials. This step occurs after the owner/client has approved the schematic design.

  4. Construction Documents
  Construction documents are the written and graphic instructions used for construction of the project. These documents must be accurate, consistent, complete, and understandable.

• Why is it important to retain a licensed engineer, architect, or surveyor?

  To earn their licenses, professionals undergo rigorous educational testing and training requirements. They are also required to maintain continuing education credits, and have access to important new information in support of their profession. When engineers, architects, or surveyors place their professional stamps and signatures on plan documents, they are formally verifying that the plans are accurate and complete, and that the structure or road will be safe when constructed as specified.

• Will my job be slowed down by the need to obtain required permits?

  No, not if you work with HUNT early on in the process. There are myriad permits that may be required for storm water control, archeological sensitivity, and environmental impact. HUNT’s experience in completing the permitting process allows us to build this into the schedule in a predictable way. 

• We want to identify funding sources for our project, can you help?

  Yes, HUNT is familiar with a wide range of federal and state funding sources for public projects. Many projects qualify for ARC (Appalachian Regional Commission) funding, the mechanisms of which we are most familiar.
