Our current available positions include: 

Architectural Designer

HUNT has a current opportunity available for an entry-level Architectural Designer. This position requires thorough knowledge of construction document preparation for educational, commercial, and institutional facility design. The candidate should be skilled with REVIT and experience with AutoCAD is a plus. Responsibilities include assisting with project design, rendering, and detailing; also the construction process of RFI's, submittals and change request management. The ability to collaborate effectively in a team situation, yet work individually to meet deadlines is important. Additional graphics experience will be helpful.

Senior Architect

Registered Architect with 7-10 years of experience and accreditation in LEED or ability to obtain. This position requires thorough knowledge of educational, industrial, commercial and institutional facility design. Candidate should be capable of managing all elements of a project. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on the ability to organize and present design information to clients, as well as, collaborate with all other disciplines to create constructible designs. Responsibilities also include typical K-12 business development actions including conferences.

Mechanical Engineer

Experience in design, construction and commissioning of commercial building HVAC systems. The mechanical positions require thorough knowledge of mechanical and HVAC systems for a wide range of facility types and projects varying in size and complexity. Engineering and design experience with a focus on Plumbing, Piping, HVAC and Fire Protection systems to assure safe reliable and energy efficient operation with a focus on sustainability and cost effective solutions. Perform design functions including equipment selection, system sizing, load calculations, product specifications and design layouts for mechanical and HVAC systems.

In addition they must have the ability to:

  • To lead and influence the technical design team.

  • Perform quality control of design documents.

  • Desire to advance to the management level.

Qualified professionals will have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, 5-8 years of related experience.  PE registration or interest in gaining, a plus. Candidates with lesser experience will be considered for junior level positions.

Electrical Engineer

Position requires thorough knowledge of electrical for a wide range of facility types and projects varying in size and complexity. Engineering and design experience with a focus on lighting, power distribution, and fire alarm/security to assure safe reliable and energy efficient operation with a focus on sustainability and cost effective solutions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on the ability to organize and present design information to clients, as well as, collaborate with all other disciplines to create constructible designs.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to:

  • Perform design functions including equipment selection, system sizing, load calculations, product specifications, and design layouts for electrical systems.

  • Be able to lead and influence the technical design solutions on prospective projects.

  • Incorporate a strong working knowledge of building and energy codes.

  • Prepare design documents for senior engineering and client review.

  • Team and support cross-discipline colleagues per direction of project leads.

Candidate should be familiar with AutoCAD, Revit, MS Excel, Power Point, Word and have proficient knowledge of lighting and calculation programs.

Qualified professionals will have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. LEED AP certification, or interest in gaining, a plus.

Senior Civil Engineer

BSCE, with 7-10 years experience in municipal/industrial engineering with a focus in wastewater treatment design. Knowledge in water treatment and distribution a plus. Applicant should have PE and New York Registration or ability to obtain. Position requires excellent work ethic, client relations, personnel skills, and a team player. Experience should include directing support team in developing design documents, and creating plans and specifications for the public bid environment. 

Successful candidate should be intimately familiar with calculations and considerations for various treatment processes including experience designing various treatment systems including:

  • MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor)

  • ASB (Activated Sludge Basin)

  • RAS (Return Activated Sludge)

  • SBR (Sequencing Batch Reactor)

  • Suspended or attached growth

  • Nitrification / denitrification

  • Phosphorus removal

  • Ammonia removal

Senior Planner

Ability to assist with projects in our growing community and regional planning sector. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of community planning principles and zoning principles and practices; ability to work in both team and independent situations; and excellent organizational, interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills. Understanding laws and regulations of New York State (knowledge of Pennsylvania regulations is a plus) as they pertain to the development of plans, studies, and reports; establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships

Examples of responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances, form-based codes and implementation plans. Also assist in the facilitation of public meetings.

  • Assist a Senior Planner as well as other members of HUNT’s site/civil group as part of a team responsible for the preparation of comprehensive plans, studies, and action plans.

  • Review and prepare reports on various site plans, subdivision, and zoning applications to determine compliance with approved comprehensive plans.

  • May assist municipalities in responding to zoning, general plan, subdivision, floodplain, and future development applications, as well as SEQR.

  • Assist in the preparation of grant applications, marketing proposals and articles for various planning publications.

Bachelor's degree in planning, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, environmental science, or related subjects and two years of professional planning experience required. Additional but not required skills include: ability to interpret legal records, technical documents, and map specifications, and experience with GIS.

Civil Engineer

Candidate must have site design experience and the ability to work with a professional engineer to design and detail plans on a variety of important projects, including K-12, healthcare, multi-family house, municipal, and university markets. There will be opportunities to engage projects at all stages of design and construction including site feasibility, concept designs, utility engineering, stormwater calculations, permitting, bidding, and construction administration. Structural Engineer/ Structural Designer

HUNT is looking for depth in the Structural Engineering Group and would consider either entry level graduate engineers or structural designers with experience consistent with our workload. This position requires knowledge of steel, concrete design, and IBC and related structural standards. Engineering and design experience or education with a demonstrated ability to learn desired. The ability to work in a team environment both with other structural engineers and other disciplines is important.

Candidate should be familiar with structural design, structural software such as RAM, the use of engineering spreadsheets, and be able to clearly organize and document work. Experience with AutoCAD or REVIT a plus.

Qualified Individuals will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil or Architectural Engineering with a Structural concentration or five (5) plus years of related experience. Interest in working toward a Professional Engineer’s license a plus.

Transportation Project Manager

HUNT is currently looking to fill the position of Transportation Project Manager. The ideal candidate will have at least 7-12 years of progressive transportation experience, will be well-versed in transportation projects, and on-track to be, or is currently, licensed in New York. He/She will need to be able to do the following: work well and directly with clients; manage all elements of a project including schedules, budgets, and staff; work and communicate effectively in a team situation; build strong working relationships. A solid knowledge on NYSDOT specifications & details along with Microstation and Auto Cad abilities is a plus.

Technology Designer

Hunt Engineers, Architects & Land Surveyors, PC is seeking candidates for an entry level technology designer position at its Horseheads, NY and Rochester, NY offices. Candidates must have the ability to multi-task and communicate effectively. The successful applicant will be required to support the technical aspects of Information Technology systems design and construction administration under a project design lead. Strong problem solving skills involving technology solutions are a plus. AutoCAD drafting skills are a plus. Minimum qualifications include Associate’s degree in Information Technology/MIS or five (5) years in Information Technology related projects.

Candidate should have knowledge of the following:

  • Basic computer networking & electronics

  • General knowledge of network infrastructure/cabling

  • Wireless networking

  • Basic electrical concepts

  • Access control & security camera experience is a plus
